The lamb Inn part 3
I first blipped this building back in march - here. Over the last 9 months it has been reborn and the windows were finally revealed last week. As I was taking the photo the owner came out to see me and we chatted about what he had been up to. The house had been built in the mid 1800's as a coach house at the time that Reading was just starting to expand due to the arrival of the railway and it was so nice that he cared about preserving the building rather than just redeveloping the site.
The skittle alley, on the other hand, wasn't as old or worth preserving as such so he has kept the façade but inside will be ultra modern with glass doors and oak beams and an internal courtyard garden.
He has sold part of the plot to another builder who has put up 2 new builds but they are in keeping with the old buildings that surround them. It's nice to know that the Planning Dept at the council sometimes get it right!
