Star!

Our street is glowing with Christmas lights. We got our tree today at last (though it's still in the garden in a bucket of water).
I love a bit of sparkle and glitter at this time of year but not the commercialisation and don't like having decorations up too early. When I was a child, it all happened on Christmas Eve, after my father had scrubbed and polished the house within an inch of it's life. My mother- in-law, on the other hand, who loves Christmas used to have her house like Santa's grotto from the 1st of December and come The Big Day there wouldn't be a needle left on the tree.....
