Singin' in the Rain

Lighting and thunder swept pass the valley this evening, with some pretty big flashes and bumps sending the dogs scurrying for something reassuring (yours truly, so it would seem).

Just before the rains came, we had a chorus of bellbirds/korimako in the flax outside the house, a pre-squall chorus if you like. They started up again once the rain had come, but by then the light was fading.

Thankfully it seems we might have a restful night after all, now that the 'donner and blitzen' has passed us by (well at least for another week of course!).
