Watching

Into London to see Operation Crucible, by Kieran Knowles, the first play he's written. Let's hope he writes a lot more. In a tiny space, with no set and just rags round their shoulders as props, the 4 actors created Sheffield and its steelworks, life there, even a footy match, just using their voices and clever rhythm. The play is the story of people trapped in a bombed hotel during the Sheffield blitz - not an easy story to tell. The theatre itself was a bit claustrophobic, making the feeling of entrapment rather close. We left feeling emotional, it was a brilliant job by the cast and the director.

I can't even tell you to get along and see it as that was the last show. Let's hope it gets put on in Sheffield where it definitely deserves to be seen.
