Concrete Cows

These are a few of the famous Milton Keynes 'Concrete Cows', happily grazing with some sparkling reindeer in the shopping centre. The tree they are underneath was a bit of a celebrity some years ago; when an expansion to the shopping centre was planned it would have meant chopping down the tree. A local action group was formed which campaigned to keep it, and ultimately the shopping centre design was changed to include a circular open space around the tree. So, everyone in agreement, the shopping centre was built.

The tree promptly died.
