Alien!

Alien plants are a real problem on the little river below our suburb. Unfortunately most of them are Australian species which have no natural predators in South Africa and all of them are extremely invasive.

I have no idea what this seed pod is but judging by the leaf it is an Aussie acacia of some sort. In the 1800's many were imported to "stabilize" the dunes - and now they are out of control.

It seems the fly likes them, however!
