Light ahead

Is it true that no one has actually ever seen light, as it actually is?.. We see the effects of light only. Light has no glow, halo, blur, sparkles, twinkles etc.. all these are effects hitting earths atmosphere, cosmic dust, and/or lens 'effects' from cameras and even the lenses in our own eyes. Just something I find interesting, and wonder at!
