I read of the Turra Coo today. This was a cow that had been seized from a farmer who had refused to pay the new national Insurance tax, deeming it unfair. The attempted selling of the animal caused a riot in the town and she was taken off the Aberdeen to be sold instead, whereupon she was bought by a group of farmers who returned her to her owner.

Not that far from my home town but I still hadn't heard of it! My dad was vaguely aware but didn't know the details.
