First day

First full day of the holidays. We've had everything from bright sunshine, to torrential rain and wind today. This is a view from the bathing pools in town towards Herm and Jethou, across a stretch of water called the Little Russell. I'm not particularly pleased with the photo as I've had to titivate it quite heavily to give it any interest :-/
On the plus side, I did venture into a camera shop today in the hope of maybe treating myself to something for Christmas. Slightly bewildered by the vast choice to be honest. A spot of research is called for I think!
Any advice greatly received, bearing in mind that I, unfortunately, do not have a small fortune at my fingertips!!
