The Ubiquitous Snowman

As you can imagine these fellows are everywhere. This one is at Dodge's Family Farm. When we first moved here 20 years ago, it really was a farm, a dairy farm. When Sumner was only 2 we would go over in the afternoon and watch the cows being milked (in an automated milking parlor), play with the calves when there were some and talk with the Grand Dad, Oliver. He is gone now and so are the cows and so is Sumner. But the younger members of the family have a little farm stand in summer and with vegetables and an ice cream stand.

This snowman is made out of hay baled in plastic. He has a plant pot on his head and a traffic cone for a nose. His eyes and buttons are actually pieces of tree bark cut circumferentially. And his scarf is hand crocheted by Claire Dodge. I know this because this picture made the largest newspaper in the state a couple of days ago.
