Silk and Cashmere
Ahhhh! Not a beginner's fiber choice by a long shot! Silk is very slippery and needs a whole lot of twist because it has no crimp in it at all. Cashmere on the other hand is a very short fiber but it too needs a whole lot of twist. Together these fibers are billowy and delicate to work with - to prep for spinning then to spin. It can just float apart if you are not paying attention. But when you have your "groove" with it - oh the pleasure of letting it slip through your fingers!
The amount of twist is what lets the silk hold its shine. I have received the last of the braids I will be buying from other dyers and filled out forms today for a special fiber company I hope to be purchasing from wholesale. Tomorrow I have to go see how much a laundry basin sink is at Home Cheapo Depot. It is all moving slowly in the right direction.
