Spot the VIP!
A work related blip today. I have been supporting the board of a small charity in Inverurie, Computers and Integration, which celebrated its 30th birthday today. The VIP is Sir Malcolm Bruce, local MP, who is honorary patron of the charity. Here he is chatting with some staff and service users. It's one of life's quirky coincidences that I was involved with CAI in its early days, when I was a young community education worker in Inverurie. My big boss at that time was the man who set it up, having recognised a gap for young people with support needs that adult day services didn't really meet at the time. He was also a guest today, and was delighted to reconnect after a good number of years. By another sad coincidence it was also the day that I heard that another former CLD colleague, friend and mentor had lost his fight against cancer. So it's been a day of fond memories, of celebration, of reunions, mixed with sadness for Terry's family at his untimely passing.
