The oncoming storm
It’s Christmas so yes it’s time for another Hobbit movie!
Part two of the Hobbit trilogy in fact, although I’m still trying to get my head around how such a short book can generate three films. Anyways the Desolation of Smaug, as part two is named, was a good film but suffers a bit from being part two of three, just as part two of the Lord of the Rings trilogy suffered as well. In fact I think the only episode two of a trilogy which has blown people away was Empire Strikes Back of the original Star Wars Trilogy.
If you want to be entertained this Christmas it still has plenty to offer dwarves, orcs, elves and a Sherlock dragon ;) I don’t get the dwarf – elf – Legolas love triangle either! And that’s the other thing Legolas?! He wasn’t even in the book and certainly plays a different take to the Legolas we later see in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Oh well! The one highlight was Evangeline Lilly as an elf; I think I’m in love! :) The cliff-hanger sets up the coming storm!
Talking of storm jeepers creepers was it rough tonight! Howling wind and rain, and the roads were really bad. Not the best night to be out.
