THE OLD PEPPER TREE

Pepper trees, although not indigenous, are popular shade trees in dry hot areas. I am not sure why the ground around the base of the tree was built up. D thinks that the soil on the slope below the pepper tree was used to build up the terrace for the mill race necessary for the small water mill that stood in the garden behind the old pear tree.
The water tank is not what it seems. It is an outdoor shower.
Today the temperature was predicted to be 39 degrees. It has been very hot. The sky is cloudy now and the dog is under the bed so I dare say we will have a thunderstorm later on.
