Be very careful what last minute decisions you mak

I decided last Wednesday that I should have our chimney swept before Christmas. Why ? I don't know !!! The chimney sweep came and swept and did a smoke test. He came to the conclusion that we needed a flue fitted and wouldn't certify the fireplace for use. The flue fitters can't come until 7th of January. Thus my hearth and mantelpiece have no accompanying fire over Christmas and New Year. Aaaaaagh.
