The Pete District

Double Standards

I find it very sad that when a young man has given his life that we may enjoy ours; his wife's modest marker stone can be so vandalised and left crooked and broken to sink into obscurity.
His name appears on the village war memorial and is honoured with great solemnity every year, yet here, no more than fifty yards from that memorial, his wife's resting place can be desecrated without so much as a murmur of outrage.
