Touch down in Auckland

We arrived in Auckland late on Friday night. We had great fun clearing passport control, customs etc. Suffice it to say that they don't make up the passport control stories that you see on channel five. I had my hiking boots checked and washed and I escaped quite lightly. We stayed overnight at the ibis hotel at the airport (well a 15 minute walk away it transpired...) then made our way into central Auckland to our hotel. Jet lag was taking its toll now, I felt like I had the worst hangover ever and not a drop of alcohol had passed my lips. Still, the sun was shining and that made it a little better!
