Birthday Tree!

Busy day here at Big Hill, culminating in a birthday party over in Big Baddeck, which is a bit of a hike especially with all the snow we've had and there was in the forecast, impending freezing rain! Luckily that part didn't happen.

We were celebrating 2 birthday's and the winter solstice! This tree, which was in the middle of the food table, is a tradition Charlotte created when her children where young. It was her daughter Jennifer's birthday we were celebrating, along with Rachael's! They always brought in part of a tree and decorated it with some kind of candy....these were large jelly candies! (to clarify, it's a birthday tree) It was a lovely gathering and i had some wonderful conversations with a friend that i don't see very often!

We didn't get home till almost midnight so it's now sunday morning and guess what....it's snowing - good god will it ever stop!
