Crime Scene
Just last week we bought an enclosure for the little ground feeding birds in our garden. The squirrel had worked out a way of getting himself into the birdhouse even though we’d tried a variety of squirrel proofing measures. He kept stealing the food meant for the little birds.
This cage is pegged to the ground and is made of mesh that allows the little birds in and keeps the big birds (and the squirrel) out…..or so we thought. The squirrel has a feeder of his own containing peanuts and consequently is not exactly sylph like. Surely there’s no way he could force that paunch through those tiny squares???!!!
Just to show how wrong you can be I took this shot of a guilty looking squirrel at the scene of the crime, caught red-pawed, scoffing the little birds’ suet treats.
