Carolling

Today was my last day at work for two weeks, so a celebration seemed in order!

Spokes' friend Sallyann invited us round to her house with a bunch of other pals for a festive get-together and we all took food with us to contribute to a hearty feast.

Over the course of the evening people dropped by and joined the throng - young and not quite so young - from various parts of England, Ireland, Finland, the Caribbean, the Netherlands and Iraq. All of them lovely.

At about 9.00pm, most of us headed out onto the street and sang carols for the neighbours, many of whom came and listened, made requests, joined in and even applauded! We were able to accommodate most requests but did have a tendency to sing all lyrics to the default tune of 'Once in Royal David's City'...! Here's Tom, leading a rousing chorus!

Once back inside by the fire we all kept singing until the wee small hours. It was quite a night!
