The power and the glory
The sun sets behind Drax power station, North Yorkshire on Sunday evening, the day after the Winter solstice.
The huge, coal powered power station generates 7% of the UK's electricity, but is no match for the glorious sunset. And think of all the power in the Sun?!
Back in Scarborough for Christmas, but the sun had been replaced by rain when we arrived. According to the forecast, this blip may have been the last glimpse of the sun for a few days, with miserable stormy weather on its way... On the first Christmas I've had in years, when I don't care if it was white!
