Liverpool Cathedral
Saturday
Since we were late to bed last night after driving from France, we had a leisurely start to the day, and Janet and John cooked a full English breakfast for us all (including Roger's parents) late morning, which was a real treat! We got a worrying text from Laura, who is supposed to be joining us tomorrow, flying in from Macedonia. She had just discovered the airport in Skopje had been closed since Thursday due to extreme smog! More research later in the day revealed that a few Wizz Air flights had taken off, so we were hopeful and keeping our fingers crossed! I must admit, we had been concerned ahead of time about snow possibly creating a problem, but we had never thought of smog! In the afternoon, Janet , John, Roger and I drove into Liverpool to attend a service of lessons and carols at the Anglican Cathedral, featuring the Cathedral choirs. Janet and John have been attending this service for a number of years now, and they like to get there early to make sure of securing a good seat. When we got there the choir was still rehearsing, so I was able to get this blip without a load of heads in front of me! It was wonderful to hear the voices and the organ in such a magnificent setting. In the evening we all went out to eat at a nearby restaurant.
