Reaching for the Stars

At my parents' for the holidays. Living far outside the city in the countryside, you are really able to see the stars. Without a big city's light pollution there are thousands of them visible even to the naked eye.

So today's blip shows the starlit sky behind a hop yard. The time was 20:00 CET and the orientation roughly west-northwest. The healthy orange afterglow is coming from the nearby Munich airport and the shooting stars are planes.

This is my first try to make a photo like this and I'm not really pleased, so I'm thankful for any tips how to improve the result (without buying a better camera).
