a new one

Today was a day for new ones.

I went to the ward for today's duty later than I have been going, so that I could collect my car from the garage first. It had been due a warrant of fitness about now, and also would benefit from a service, it being six months since the last. Took it in rather last minutishly on Friday morning. Trouble with an old car that has done a fair mileage (funny that we still use that word despite measuring distance now in kilometres) is that things are starting to go wrong.

Told on Friday I needed new brake hoses, and a new hose for the power steering, and, and, and. Okay then get them and do it all says I. Can't says he. Your car is too old for the parts to be held in NZ. We have to get them from Japan, or get them made to measure. Strangled noises from my end of the telephone line. I am delighted to say that they all did their tasks superbly well and I have a car which is now running far more like it did 14 years ago when I first got it.

Then I left early. Not just because it is Christmas Eve. With the resident medical staff and the nurses, we had sorted almost everything yesterday, and only a little "tidying" was needed today, and shortly after lunch there was nothing more to do, so I cam home to be helpful to S, and remain available by mobile if necessary (it hasn't been).

An afternoon run along Ponsonby Road, and I spotted a "thought" which I blipped in January. Only this one was tiny. The first small thought I have seen.

On the wooden fence around the building site (known as Soho Square, it is still a large hole with expensive return of fill, that had been taken away a couple of years before) on Crummer Road. There, I saw a new mural by WERT159. An older apartment building is seen in the background; the new building to go here with 12 apartments, is yet to commence construction.

This is my blip for today. There are two other panels by WERT159 (also faces in multicolour) on this fence, also previously blipped.

A seasonal wish for peace and love to all who visit my journal on this night (in NZ) and long may both last.
