Winter light down the alley

I can't quite put my finger on what it was that drew me to this scene. Nevertheless, something did.

Today's late afternoon sun had so much energy, this photo doesn't do it justice. Moments earlier, the light was even more intense, casting a glow across the wall, but I missed my chance. Such is the nature of photography. I also enjoyed the many textures of the alley's residents - the simple, utilitarian items that are kept out of view, the plain door, the piping, the fire escape, the trash bins.
