I got the placement
I’ll repeat, I got the placement.
I’m still a little shell-shocked.
This morning when Dad was opening the mail, he noticed a letter for me. As soon as I saw the crest on the top, my heart sank just a little bit. I felt like the letter was too thin to be an acceptance letter, and was more likely to be a rejection, and anyway…the school had said that it would be after Christmas before we heard anything. Anyways, I steeled myself to open it, and then lo and behold…the first word, ‘Congratulations’. I cannot say how happy I am to have a placement for next year, in the city that I love, close to my family and home friends, in a school that is just the type of school I wanted to work in. When I read the letter I most definitely burst into tears, then spent the next ten minutes running around the house like a crazy woman ringing my entire family! Dad was just as bad, he ended up cycling with the letter down the road to Mum’s work so everyone in the office could have a read.
All I need now is my 2:1…but it is definitely nice to know what I’m doing next year.
So today was also my first busy day, as you could so call it. These are my friend Tom’s feet, I could have taken one of his face of course, but I quite liked how the lines looked. Pretty much spent an entire afternoon catching up over coffee…I really hope that he gets one of the graduate schemes he’s been applying for. My evening was spent over drinks with Luke…and Southport has most definitely changed. Not that there were many classy joints, but there are now exactly none. We bounced from pub to bar to bar but nowhere had good drinks, a good ambiance or even a good setting! Was really nice to catch up though, and very exciting that I will be in the same city as him next year! So these two guys are some of my oldest, and best, friends. Tom I have known since I was fifteen, and Luke since we were eleven…so I’m really glad that we have managed to keep in touch over the years. Was so great to share my good news with them!
A little aside, thank you everyone for your good wishes and comments recently, it really helped when I was stressing out about whether or not I would get this job. You've all been a massive support for me, so thank you.
