Life is a Challenge!

UNSUNG HEROES

I could have blipped a beautiful Christmas scene but thought I would leave that to everyone else. As you know I like to chat to strangers and as Mr. HCB and I walked along The Parade this morning I saw this man polishing the outside of a stainless steel litter bin!

I stopped to chat and discovered his name was Tony. After working in a foundry for 21 years he was made redundant and was without a job for a year but he got this council cleaning job through a friend. He told me he was pleased to have a job that paid his mortgage and his bills and that he cleans these bins every day. He said at first he had felt it was demeaning to be cleaning bins but I quickly reassured him he was doing a fantastic job and that WE were the rubbish makers and WE should feel awful, not him!

Reminded me of Jesus, who came into the squalor of this world, was born as a baby in a smelly stable, and whose birth we celebrate at this special time of year.

I wonder how many people noticed Tony doing his job today and how many will remember Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas?

A song by Stuart Townend From the Squalor of a Borrowed Stable has some wonderful lines and I'm sure the angels were rejoicing as they saw this lovely man polishing litter bins!

Sending Christmas blessings to all my blip friends - may the love of Jesus be in your hearts and in your homes at this special time of year.
