Twas the night before Christmas
Well here we are another Christmas Eve has come round again :)
We have a few traditions ourselves as a family. We always light the Christmas angel chimes on Christmas Eve reminding me of my Grandma who also had one the same as do other members of our family.
I have a snowball with a cherry or two which drop to the bottom of the glass. The glass belonged to my Great Auntie Floss.
We have a honey roast ham and cauliflower cheese for dinner and bring all the chocolates and crisps and other goodies down from the bedroom.
Richard's working until 8 and Mike will pick him up as the weather is awful. The trees have been almost bent forward but seem to be hanging on. It's now pouring so we are not going to the carol service at the ruined Cathedral in Fortrose but I'll sit in the warm listening to my chimes and carols.
The final Yule lad is Candle Beggar. He loves candles. He may be the nastiest of them all as he takes the candles and in the past when the candles were made of animal fat he would eat them ! Stealing candles was not good and dreaded by the Icelandic people as this would have been the only light they would have had and darkness would bring fear with it.
Hoping that you all still have power and that are not relying on candle light as you never know the winds may have blown this Yule Lad in Our direction !
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas have a fabulous time whatever you are doing and wherever you may be :)
