Built Like a Tank
Long shift at work today, 9am - 9pm. Exhausting but enjoyable too, if that's not an oxymoron.
Three classes involved working with digital images but somehow managed to get through the whole day without actually taking any digital images. As I drove home I was starting to rack my brain for ideas I'd banked for days like this, but my head was just mince and nothing was happening. Got home though and this cardboard and magnolia painted beauty was parked on the table waiting on me.
I think it's good that Euan's had the opportunity to build this war machine. Others might not agree thatit's is a good subject for ten year olds to spend so much time on, but it's gave us a chance to discuss some of the issues around the whole messy business as we've worked on the project. We've even looked through some of this blipper's eye-opening journal together and looked at the situation some similarly aged kids in other countries find themselves having to deal with.
As usual though, it's ten o'clock on the night before this project's due in school, the paint's still wet and there's a bit of work still to do. He's only had something like four weeks to build the thing, so obviously everything gets left to the last week. It's the law, and he's learned this 'working to a tight deadline' ethic from a master of the art ;-)
