Walk in the forest..

..because high winds have meant there were no lifts working so we can't get up to the snow on top of the mountains!!
I'm in Austria and no white Christmas!!!! *sobs*

We were welcomed at breakfast by glasses of Buck's Fizz from our chalet hosts and full English breakfast. We then opened our few little presents that we'd brought with us. We then learned that there was unlikely to be any way to get up the mountain today so we went for a walk in the forest which would have been magical with snow but it's been so mild here since we arrived that most of it has melted! (The village is low.) still, it was a nice walk and then it was time for lunch, then another walk along the river, and then mince pies and gluwein in the chalet!
We're going to see my daughter's fiancé's 'other family' that looked after him when he was ski racing, for drinks and then back to the chalet for traditional Christmas dinner.

My tummy is so much bigger than when I came! All my hard work beforehand has gone to pot (pot belly - geddit?!) but hopefully we'll get some skiing done in the next 2 days... If not, my wine belly is going to need serious working out to get rid of! Oh well.. It's Christmas.. ;-)
