The stare...

Great start of the day, everyone was very happy to see Father Christmas did not forget him/her. Under the Christmas tree, I found a new 70 - 300 mm Canon lens! Of course, I had to try this out! This is taken on the pre-dinner walk around the Vecht river. This male swan was still very protective of its two young (although they were nearly all white too, just the beak was not yet orange) and female swan.

In the afternoon we drove up to Bert's parents for the traditional Christmas dinner. It is interesting to see the slight differences in traditions. Flemish friends celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, most British friends would celebrate with a lunch on Christmas Day and in The Netherlands we have Christmas dinner. Here in Flanders Boxing day is not a public holiday, offices are in, shops are open and even the postman is working.
