Socks as wrapping

Here's a caper
If you've run out of paper
You can use a sock
To wrap a rock
Or a bottle of booze
Or a thing you would use
To remove the stones
From royal thrones
Or a long felt want
From an aged tante
Or a second hand rose
All in woollen hose
Which will also warm
Some loved one's toes.
