Blazing a trail
I rather like the idea of blazing a trail rather than following a path.
Easier said than done of course.
And not even so easy to say: Ralph Waldo Emerson is widely quoted as advising "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail".
I prefer Robert Brault: "The road to success is not a path you find but a trail you blaze".
Or is the spirit of the thought to stop quoting others and write something original myself?
