On reflection

Her Majesty took reflection as her theme for her speech this year.

We watched as a family and reflected too.

If things had different, Mam would still be with us.
If things had been different, Mam would have cooked Christmas lunch.

But things are as they are: and yes, we are sad that we have had our first Christmas without Mam.

If things had been different we would not have realised hiw strong we are as individuals and as a family.
If things had been different I possibly wouldn't be as close as I am now to me dear sister and brother and Dad.
If things had been different, we would not have found out that my sister can cook a Christmas lunch every bit as good as Mam.
If things had been different, 4 people who are now able to see would still not be able to.

This evening we have raised a glass to Mam and enjoyed a small sherry wih her.

Merry Christmas Mam. Whilst we would much prefer to still have you with us, on reflection we did ok.
