Monk at the Mall

The day after Christmas, I found myself walking into the mall behind this monk. Even monks have to go through the metal detector.

The metal detectors are more of a formality at the malls, especially one like this, on the outskirts of the city. There is a security guard, but he doesn't pay too much attention. At the malls downtown where the protest have been, they actually will take a peek in your bag.

Either way, I always like the contrast between the traditional and the modern when I see monks out and about in today's world.

I'm heading off to northern Thailand tomorrow to visit some students' families and celebrate the New Year. I'll probably have to backblip the whole trip, but I'm hoping for some great pictures. A very happy New Year to you!
