Life's Little Moments

Day Six

Cozumel, Mexico, our third and final port of this cruise. And it didn't disappoint! The weather continues to be spectacular with temps around 80F and mostly sunny skies.

Today, we visited an Eco-archeological park called X-Caret in Cozumel. A fascinating place with an array of wildlife and a large breeding program of Macaws. This pair was indulging in some mutual preening and playful head-nibbling ... Incredible to see! They had probably 100 Macaws and parrots in a wonderful Jungle area where we were able to get quite close. A far cry from my usual backyard birds!

Another highlight of the day was their amazing butterfly (mariposa in Spanish) habitat which contained several thousand butterflies of many species. Photos will follow once I am home with decent Internet. I've never been to a butterfly habitat, so I had no idea what to expect - it was sheer magic.

Tomorrow we will be at sea all day, so I will try to come with something interesting to blip...we'll see what inspires me. It's been kind of fun just using my little Nikon P510 and the iPhone this week - challenging and in many ways much more difficult than using my DSLRs. Good to "rough it" once in a while.

I've added a bit more info to yesterday's iguana photo - in case you were wondering, that was a wild iguana, one of many on the banks of a jungle river in Belize. I've also back-blipped a shot from Tuesday from Costa Maya, Mexico...

Cheers and Happy Boxing Day!
