There goes the neighborhood

In what homebuilder's wild dreams is this a good idea? We live in an old established neighborhood, 99% of the houses are solid classic homes - Craftsman, bungalows, Portland foursquares. Some of the busier streets on this side of town are being flooded with modern looking apartment buildings. But to build something like this in the midst of a residential area of classy looking older homes is like hanging a Jackson Pollock in a room full of Vermeers and Rembrandts. It will stick out like the proverbial sore thumb.

Someone has pasted a sign on the billboard asking neighbors to voice their opinions about this design. I hope Ana Maria gets the boot. Here's a little broader look at the street. They'll be tearing down the house the sign is in front of.
