Boxing Day

A welcome quiet day after yesterday's festivities. We received the sad news that our neighbour had passed away quietly at his home yesterday after a long illness. So sorry for his family at this difficult time. He was one of the few remaining original farming villagers and his family have lived in the area for over a century.

N and I took the dog out for a short walk after lunch and bumped into another neighbour on his return from lunch with friends. He asked us in for a cup of tea and a mince pie which we accepted. His wife died a year ago and he and his dog still feel the emptiness of their home.
