Third Time's the Charm

I despaired of getting a blip today, as this morning and early afternoon were very dark, wet, and windy. By mid-afternoon -- not far from sunset, at this time of year -- the rain had stopped and the sky was much improved, so I decided to combine picking up books on hold for me at the library with a blip search.

Lake Padden was my first stop, where there were some interesting clouds and reflections, but even with my favorite Dramatic Tone employed, not what I was after. I drove on to Fairhaven, making Marine Park my first stop, where I took this image of my favorite tree there, drawn by the interesting assortment of clouds behind it.

Reasonably satisfied, off I went to the library. There's a good view of Bellingham Bay from there, and as I returned to my car with a bag of books, I noticed that the sky was even more colorful than it had been earlier, so back I went to Marine Park.

There were more people there this time, including a bride and groom having wedding photos taken, some young men with bikes, several people tossing balls for their dogs -- and the two kayakers setting out in today's blip. The color widened and intensified "off screen" to the left of this image while they were out, and on their return, one commented on how magical it had been to paddle in that sunset.

It was Blip magic as well!
