Stormy Night & Powercut

Today was a back to basics day.

Last night we had one of the worst storms in living memory. The wind howled all night and there were all sorts of noises of stuff being blown around. Around midnight I was woken up by a loud bang, then the power was going off every few seconds, finally the power went off completely.

We waited until it got light then made a fire as soon as we got up - no power and wind still howling. I also found that the radio had batteries so, we had our entertainment for the day. MrD brought the camping gas stove in, cups of tea followed!

Whilst outdoors MrD discovered that a number of tiles had been blown out of place on the roof, two had fallen and he managed to drag a dangerously positioned tile down to safety.

I was so relieved to see the Cabbage Tree still standing after all the wind and the sky was very stormy as the sun was setting this afternoon.

Power returned late this evening, just after we'd gone to bed!
