The Megalong Open
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Megalong Open. Around Christmas time we have a golf day on our farm for extended family and friends. The course is rather rough, but so are the golfers. In fact anyone showing any hint of golfing ability is swiftly and severely handicapped. Most "holes" consist of marked trees, although sometimes it is the cattle feeder, an anthill or wombat hole. The ladies tend to retire (voluntarily) after 5 holes but some of the really committed boys go the entire 18. My brother-in-law drives around in the "drinks buggy" keeping them hydrated and, I'm afraid, usually rather intoxicated. We have a different theme each year. This time it was "Africa". Graham looked the best. He painted himself with black stripes and wore a zebra mask. We also had a fake crocodile in the dam as an additional hazard. Apologies to any real golfers out there, but it is always a lot of fun and great family gathering. The little chap pictured takes it a bit more seriously than most.
