Obsession

Obsession is not a passive act,
but it’s not quite complicit.
It requires a degree of tact
to crave something illicit.

I cultivate my secret demons,
courting them from a distance.
If I feel fear and my need deepens,
I give up my resistance.

Once caught by a seductive idea,
my mind will know no release.
The only chance of panacea:
an even darker caprice.
