Red Kangaroo
Jo had an all day vet nurse seminar at the wildlife hospital at Australia Zoo today. She asked me earlier in the week if I would mind driving her there and back. Not a problem but that left me with 6 or 7 hours to kill. So, I decided to spend the day wandering around the Zoo on my own.
It was pretty good. I have been to Australia Zoo a number of times and would strongly recommend it to anyone coming to our part of the world. There are lots of shows, lots of animals and of course, lots of crocs.
I did the zoo to death today though. I even watched the croc show twice. I made it my mission to photograph every animal display I saw. The kangaroos are one of the best enclosures. You are free to wander around and pat the animals. Not something I would recommend with a wild roo.
This roo is a Red Kangaroo, Australias biggest version of the roo. Skippy on steroids. These fellows grow taller than a man and can jump 40 ft in one bound. As you can see, this buck has a pretty good life.
Other animals? Tazzie Devils, Bearded Dragons, Freshwater Crocs, Saltwater Crocs, Echidnas, Koalas, many, many parrots, dingos, etc... and the list goes on. I even saw Bob Irwin with his carer and a security guard but I didn't go papparazzi on him. Everyone deserves their space.
