Can't see the trees for the wood

Went for another walk this afternoon, this time on my own, up the hill on the side of the Cairn Valley opposite our house. It's a gentle track through mainly coniferous forest. Since I last came here, a lot of trees have been felled, and the views across the valley have opened up. It's a good image to dwell on at the end of the year, when I usually think about what can be cleared out of my own life so that I can see and think more clearly...
