What struck my fancy

A door with history version 2

This door is part of a house close to St Nicholas Chapel in King's Lynn, an entrance of which is behind me. Gravestones have been moved and stacked against the wall. The door itself does not really look in everyday use you'll agree. Anchors decorate the door. The north-enders who are the core of the town's fishing community have the right to use the Chapel for christenings, weddings and funerals.

Our local camera club holds its annual exhibition there for a week each August.

The chapel started in 1146 and was rebuilt around 1450. As a church it is redundant and looked after by the Churches Conservation trust and the only services now are solely for north enders.
