The Green Door......
...........looking for something to Blip in the pouring rain and a gale force wind is not very inspirational but I did see this old door with it's peeling paint! What caught my eye, though, was the lovely old transom window above it and the pillars on either side. The adjoining property is in the process of being demolished and I'm wondering if this one is due to suffer the same fate.
Yesterday's visit to the Pantomime was a great success! The main character was "Muggles" played by the old timer Bernie Clifton together with his "ostrich". Born in Merseyside, Bernie began his career after serving in the RAF, working in the working men's Clubs in the North of England. If a comedian can survive doing that, he must have the skin of a rhino - it is one of the hardest tasks of any entertainer!
He made his first TV appearance in 1971 and has been in demand - more lately in Pantos - ever since. He is just a very funny man and we laughed until we had stomach aches!
We met him immediately after the show - he was in the foyer collecting for Charity - and my friend asked him if he had any plans to retire. His answer was that he was now too old to retire! We both agreed that he was not only funny but a genuinely lovely man with time to chat and pleased to do so.
Long may he shine.
Torrential rain and gale force wind this morning - has quietened down a bit now - it has stopped raining and there is a little sunshine.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
