Christmas Day.
Unfortunately almost all of our original 70's dubious looking (ie. FABULOUS!) family crimbo decorations are long gone, but this wee wooden one and another wee wooden house are still going strong and have been around for as long as I can remember. So as I was the one to decorate the tree last night* I thought I'd have a wee nostalgia blip :)
We had a nice quiet day here, it was just me and my brother home for the holidays - although we had Claire and Andy on skype while we were opening presents which was total chaos! Dad's mate Rodney was round for Christmas dinner and we all ate far too much. I wasn't feeling great and had a big sleep before and then again after dinner. And I have to admit I missed my sister being here, she's a pain in the arse but it was really really quiet without her! No one had a strop or drank too much and we couldn't even motivate ourselves to play a game. We need Claire back next year, even if it does mean I have to give up my lovely bed and sleep on the floor somewhere...
*yes, yes, I know it was Christmas Eve and we were only just putting the tree up, deal with it! If you'd witnessed the stress and shouting involved in getting the thing out of the attic, finding it didn't stand up straight - or at all - then doing the rounds of every DIY shop and Garden Centre in Inverness looking for another bloody tree of which there were NONE, have my excellent idea of standing it up in the wastepaper bin dismissed out of hand and my brother step in like a hero at the last minute and cut a bit of cardboard and niftily fit it in the exact right place to save the day then you would understand. Pfft.
