Christmas night in Benifallet

A very quiet day in the village while families ate together but we'd seen a huge lorry piled with lighting and sound equipment arrive and unload in the main local bar the day before. So, we bought tickets for the first part of the evening, the traditional dancing for the oldies. The light show and band were amazing and very professional. Apparently they are very well known and some come from the village.

We didn't think we'd last for later because the agenda was 8.00-11.00 as above, a 2 hour break for eating, dancing for the younger population till 3.00ish then a disco until everyone went home! As it happens we were woken at 8.15 am by an amorous local lad who had just left the party and was trying to get his arms around our host who had danced with him but left the party 10 hours earlier. We had to intervene!

This is the last dance and I think it is the Hotta, though don't know how to spell it, a mad dance with very fast steps at times and conducted in circles. Everyone danced all evening from toddlers, teens, young parents and elderly grandparents. The young men are completely at home on the dance floor and everyone dances beautifully.
