Renewal

New Year - Renewal - the old year dies and the new is born.
So here is my take on the theme. This picture shows a detail of what happened when Storm Ivar swept across mid-Sweden in December. Thousands of trees came down and as you can see here they don't come down in neat piles!
The renewal?  This wood was (and is) destined to become paper or similar. Being felled by the wind doesn't change that, although it does increase the costs of getting it out of the forest. So this wood will reappear in a new form, as paper, later this year.
Once this fallen timber is removed new trees will start to grow. If insufficient numbers regrow naturally the forest owner will move in and plant seedlings. So 70 - 100 years from now the mature forest will be back in place, renewed and ready for another round of felling, if people still need timber or paper 100 years from now.
