Searching for Boodgie -
or Stanley.
We had no plans to go out today it was just going to a matter of waiting to go out this evening to see the old year out and the new year in. But we had a call from our daughter to say that the bauble I bought her a couple of years ago with the iconic dachshund (Boodgie or Stanley) painted by David Hockney had accidentally been broken, could I get her a replacement. No hardship as I love this place.
The Dachshunds were a major exhibition here at the 1853 Gallery a few years ago,and the old mill features lots of Hockney's works. The diner adopted this emblem for their uniforms and she had really wanted one of the T shirts. At the time they had stopped selling them so the bauble was a compensation but this year they were selling them again so she has a T shirt now as well.
This is the book floor (3rd floor) which also houses the diner and art gallery as well as a selection of other shops. The main exhibition today was of black and white photographs of '60s pop icons from the Beatles to Lonnie Donegan! They were taken by Paul Berif and entitled 'Rock Legends in Yorkshire'.
So we had a nice afternoon out and got what we went for - sadly not reduced!
I know blip friends in the Southern Hemisphere have already arrived in 2014 but to every one North or South I hope you have a very Happy, healthy and peaceful New Year!
